Established in 1961, IMA is world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic machines for the processing and packaging of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, tea and coffee.  

Its position of leadership is the result of significant investments in R&D, regular and constructive dialogue with the end-users in its sectors and the Group's ability to expand internationally, conquering new markets. Its history features a constant growth. The IMA Group closed the year 2020 with consolidated revenue of about 1.5 billion euros. Exports accounted for about 84%.

Nata da un'idea di Massimo Marchesini nel 1974 a Pianoro (Bo), dove è tutt'oggi basato il quartier generale, Marchesini Group è leader nella fornitura di linee complete e macchine per il confezionamento per le industrie farmaceutica e cosmetica. I numeri testimoniano il suo successo: un ricavato consolidato di tutto il Gruppo pari a 204 milioni di  euro nel 2012, 1200 dipendenti (500 diretti e 700 tra aziende del gruppo e sedi estere), 14 divisioni produttive, 7 aziende acquisite ed una azienda partner, una rete di 20 agenzie e 11 branch offices. Grazie al costante impegno nell'innovazione, Marchesini è oggi protagonista in Italia e sui mercati internazionali: l'85% del suo fatturato è generato dalle esportazioni. Nonostante la forte vocazione internazionale, punto di forza e caratteristica distintiva di Marchesini Group è l'aver basato la produzione interamente in Italia, a garanzia dell'alta qualità del prodotto e della valorizzazione del rapporto con l'indotto locale.

MG2 si è presentata sul mercato nel 1966, anno di fondazione, con la novità mondiale della prima macchina opercolatrice a movimenti continui (Modello G36). Da allora ha fornito migliaia di macchine ad aziende multinazionali e di piccole/medie dimensioni, in tutti i paesi del mondo.
Guidato dal Presidente Ernesto Gamberini, uno dei soci fondatori della società, il Gruppo MG2 è oggi leader nella produzione di macchine automatiche dosatrici di prodotti farmaceutici in capsule di gelatina dura di qualsiasi formato.
Oltre alle dosatrici di prodotti in capsule di gelatina dura e altri contenitori di piccole dimensioni, l'azienda produce, nella Process Division, macchine complementari di controllo qualitativo della produzione e sistemi di controllo peso.
La Packaging Division offre una gamma affidabile di macchine automatiche per il confezionamento e l'imballaggio di prodotti farmaceutici, cosmetici e alimentari, quali: incartonatrici verticali ed orizzontali, macchine formatrici e riempitrici di scatole e vassoi, palettizzatori, astinatrici.
Il Gruppo impiega circa 180 dipendenti, conta uno stabilimento produttivo (dislocato in provincia di Bologna a Pian di Macina di Pianoro) con una superficie coperta complessiva di 15.000 metri quadrati. E' presente sul mercato internazionale grazie a tre filiali estere (in USA, Russia e Cina) e ad una capillare rete di agenti in tutto il mondo.
Tutti i prodotti a marchio MG2 si contraddistinguono per l'alta tecnologia, qualità e affidabilità, garantite da un sistema produttivo integrato e progressivamente perfezionato nel tempo. Nella sua complessità e articolazione, il sistema produttivo si avvale di macchine e attrezzature a controllo numerico tra le più avanzate della moderna tecnologia produttiva, grazie alle quali sono eseguiti gli elementi più complessi e critici utilizzati sulle macchine prodotte, che vengono poi sottoposti a rigorosi test qualitativi attraverso sofisticate strumentazioni di rilevamento tridimensionale e attraverso collaudi analitici.
MG2 è stata fra le prime aziende italiane del settore ad ottenere, nel 1995, la certificazione di qualità secondo le norme UNI EN ISO 9001-94.
Il suo sistema di qualità è attualmente aggiornato agli standard imposti dalle norme Vision 2000.

L'attività dell'azienda si svolge nel settore delle macchine da confezionamento verticali e delle linee per il confezionamento di prodotti liquidi,pastosi, polverosi e granulari in buste monodose (4 lati o stick).
