Danish Crown enters South African market

Danish Crown, one of the world’s largest companies in the pork meat processing sector, has acquired a 70% stake in Overberg Food Distributors based in Cape Town, South Africa through its subsidiary ESS-Food.

Danish Crown aims to establish a solid base in South Africa, a country that is expected to see strong growth over the next few decades. Overberg Food Distributors was founded around 25 years ago and has a turnover of approximately €47 million, 250 employees and almost 2,000 customers, mostly located in southern South Africa.
