L'Oréal poised to sell The Body Shop to Brazilian group

L'Oréal is at an advanced stage of negotiations with the Brazilian group Natura Cosméticos regarding the sale of The Body Shop, the natural cosmetics brand acquired by the French giant in 2006 for £652 million.

The Natura Cosméticos group has made a 1 billion euro offer for the purchase of the British brand, the highest received in recent months. The sale is expected to be completed during the second half of 2017.

The Body Shop is present in more than 60 countries worldwide through a variety of distribution channels, including e-commerce and more than 3,000 retail outlets. In recent years it has lost a significant share of its turnover as a result of increasingly fierce competition.
