AB InBev and Tilray team up for cannabis drink research

The world’s largest brewer AB InBev has teamed up with pioneering cannabis producer Tilray as part of a $100 million joint venture to research non-alcoholic drinks containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).

The alliance is currently limited to Canada, the world’s first major country to fully legalise the recreational use of cannabis and its active ingredients THC and CBD.

AB InBev will take part in the partnership through its subsidiary Labatt Breweries of Canada, while Tilray will participate through its Canadian cannabis subsidiary High Park Company, which develops, markets and distributes a portfolio of socially-responsible cannabis-based brands and products in Canada.
