Agrokor at risk of bankruptcy

The Croatian government has taken control of the food giant Agrokor, now close to bankruptcy following six years of decline.

The country’s largest private company, it employs a total of 60,000 people - including 40,000 in Croatia - and accounts for 13% of the country’s GDP.

The financial collapse of Agrokor would have severe repercussions for banks and suppliers, which have accumulated unrecovered credits of more than 6 billion euros.
