Aidepi and Aiipa merge to form Unione Italiana Food
A merger between Aidepi (Italian Association of Confectionery and Pasta Industries) and Aiipa (Italian Association of Food Product Industries) has resulted in the creation of Unione Italiana Food, Europe’s largest food association.
The year-long unification process brought together 450 food producers from some 20 different product sectors with a turnover of more than €35 billion (including €10 billion generated by exports), 800 products and a total of 65,000 employees.
The new team, led by chairman Marco Lavazza (Luigi Lavazza) and vice chairman Paolo Barilla (Barilla), aims to promote and protect the products that epitomise Italian food production while increasing the effectiveness of representation and supporting Italian member companies in their export strategies.
The Italian food industry is a strategic sector with plenty of room for international growth. According to a Doxa/Unione Italiana Food survey of 2,800 European consumers, high-level Italian products are becoming increasingly popular outside Italy.
