Amazon launches Influencer Marketing app

Amazon has created the world’s first space for influencers with the launch of the new Influencer Program app, an initiative that will enable the most popular vendors on social media to sell Amazon-sponsored products on its platform.

The Amazon Influencer Program, currently undergoing testing, assigns web personalities a personal vanity url linking to a selection of products, for which the influencer will receive a percentage on every purchase made by consumers.

Amazon will select influencers according to parameters such as number of followers and the average rate of engagement to give a rating out of a maximum of five stars. The project differs from the current affiliate programme which enables anyone to add Amazon links and banners to their website.
