Barilla launches new five-year investment plan
Barilla has announced a plan to invest €1 billion in production capacity expansion over a period of five years.
Some 60% of the total will be earmarked for process innovations and new eco-sustainable technologies, while the remaining 40% will be invested in geographical expansion of the brand and product innovation.
Sustainable development is one of the group’s key goals, resulting in a 31% reduction in water consumption per tonne of pasta and a 24% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions since 2010.
The company closed 2017 with a turnover of €3.46 billion (+3%) and profits of €241 million (+19.9%).
