Bottled water consumption set to overtake soft drinks in 2018

Global consumption of bottled water totalled 418 billion litres in 2017, 92% more than in 2007.

This corresponds to an average annual growth of close to 7% and an increase of 200 billion litres over a period of ten years.

These results were unveiled by Food & Beverage sector consultancy firm Zenith Global and compared with the corresponding figures for soft drinks: 438 billion litres in 2017 (up 24% since 2007), average annual growth of 2% and an increase of 84 billion litres in 10 years.

Consumption of bottled water is expected to overtake that of soft drinks in 2018.
