Bühler Group acquires Haas

Bühler Group, a major player in the field of advanced technologies for the food processing industry, has acquired Haas Group, the Austrian market leader of plant and equipment for wafer and biscuit production.

The acquisition will enable Bühler to expand its range of technologies in the food segment while offering Haas access to the resources of the global Bühler organisation.

In particular, Bühler has announced that it intends to expand its wafers and biscuits business in Asia, an area that offers excellent growth opportunities. The Austrian group will also be able to make use of the Bühler service network (consisting of more than 100 service centres worldwide), which will also provide technical and maintenance support for Haas plants along with spare parts, training and laboratory testing.

Set up more than a hundred years ago, Haas now has 1,750 employees worldwide, six production facilities in six countries and revenues of around €300 million. The acquisition is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017 subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities.
