Campari quits the still wine business

Campari is to sell the French winery Château de Sancerre to Maison Ackerman, wine division of Terrena (France), for a figure of €20.5 million.

Founded in 1919, the winery came into the Campari group’s ownership when it acquired Grand Marnier in June 2016 and posted net sales of €3.5 million in 2016.

Following the sale of Campari’s Italian and Chilean wineries within the last year (to a total value €117 million), the agreement for Château de Sancerre signals the group’s complete exit from the still wine business to focus on its core business of spirits.

The deal was approved by the local agricultural development organisation SAFE and is subject to final administrative authorisation.
