Danish Crown and Alibaba sign $300 million partnership

Danish Crown, Europe’s largest meat producer, is focusing on e-commerce in the Chinese market through a five-year supply agreement with Win-Chain, Alibaba’s global sourcing platform for perishable food.

The operation is valued at around $300 million and will enable the Danish producer to increase its sales of pork meat in China by more than 250 tonnes a week, which will be processed in the new 17,000-square-metre facility located in Pinghu, 100 km from Shanghai.

The factory is designed to produce 14,000 tonnes of processed products a year to be supplied entirely to Win-Chain.
