Ferrero makes second acquisition in the United States

Following its acquisition of Fannie May in the United States in May this year, Ferrero is buying Ferrara Candy Company (Illinois), the third largest US producer of non-chocolate confectionery, gummies and seasonal candies with revenues of around US $1 billion and good growth prospects.

The operation underscores the interest of the Alba, Italy-based giant in the US market, where it now has new product categories, four production facilities (two in Illinois and two in Mexico), two distribution centres and an R&D centre.

Ferrero will operate Ferrara as a separate division and will keep the headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017.
