Heineken inaugurates its seventh brewery in Mexico
Heineken now has 7 breweries in Mexico, with the recent opening of its plant in Meoqui (Chihuahua).
The new brewery demanded an investment of 500 mn USD, and brings capacity up to 6 mn hectolitres a year. This is the largest greenfield project in the company's history.
Built to satisfy all current sustainability standards, the new plant employs 100% renewable sources, with photovoltaics, wind power, and water treatment and recycling systems. Heineken is aiming to reach the milestone of just 2 litres of water consumption for each litre of beer production by 2020.
The investment is part of the Group's strategic plan to reinforce its presence in Mexico, where its business has seen two digit growth over the last year (2017). Globally, Heineken's business has grown by 4.5%.
