Italian food exports set new record
Italian agri-food exports have reached yet another all-time high.
According to a Coldiretti report based on Istat figures, in 2018 export sales hit a record value of €42 billion, 3% up on 2017.
Almost two-thirds of these sales were to European Union countries, particularly Germany, while the biggest overseas consumer of Italian food was the United States.
Wine remained Italy’s most exported product (up 3% in value), followed by fresh fruit and vegetables (+4%), while cold cuts and cheese (+3%) and pasta (+2%) also performed strongly.
