Latteria Sociale Valtellina opens new dairy plant in Trivate

On 10 November this year, Latteria Sociale Valtellina officially opened its new 4,000 square metre dairy plant in Trivate (Sondrio), not far from the parent facility in Delebio.

The new dairy involved an investment of €3 million and stands out for its attention to the environment and energy savings (photovoltaic and heat and rainwater recovery systems, planting of birch and maple trees). It has modern ageing rooms and areas for cheese processing and packaging.

The cooperative has a number of other projects in the pipeline, including a new dairy plant in Postalesio which is currently undergoing renovation and will soon be ready to begin operation. This new facility displays the same attention to materials and sustainability as the plant in Trivate.

The cooperative has also launched a project entitled “Montagna in movimento” involving an investment of €6 million (including €2.2 financed by the Lombardy regional government) in which contributing members are engaged in a process of farm redevelopment and facility improvement, including the modernisation of four production sites and barn automation operations.
