Lavazza acquires Mars Drinks coffee business

As part of its international expansion strategy, Lavazza has signed an agreement to acquire the coffee business of Mars Drinks in North America, Germany, UK, France, Canada and Japan, including the production facilities located in the UK and USA and the Flavia tabletop machine and Klix freestanding vending machine operations.

The businesses covered by the acquisition generated sales of around $350 million in 2017 and employ about 900 people.

Lavazza closed 2017 with consolidated revenue of €2 billion (up 6.3% year on year), EBITDA of €200.8 million (+12.5%), an operating result of €67 million (+8.5%) and net profits of €44.7 million. The deal is expected to be finalised by the end of 2018 subject to regulatory approvals.
