Nespresso invests CHF 48 million in Romont site

The coffee capsule manufacturer Nespresso, a subsidiary of food giant Nestlé, has invested CHF 43 million (€37.9 million) on the creation of two new production lines at its factory in Romont (Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland).

At the same time the company has invested a further CHF 5 million in two new state-of-the-art facilities, a Product Development Center and a Coffee Campus dedicated to developing new Nespresso machines and Grand Cru coffees, including several rare varieties. Nespresso’s aim is above all to develop sustainable, high-quality coffees and offer a personalised customer service.

Opened in 2015, the Romont factory (the third in Switzerland) represented an initial investment of CHF 300 million and is the primary production site for Nespresso Vertuo, an innovative, high-quality portioned coffee system.

Since 2003, the number of Nestlé employees in Switzerland has risen from 6,700 to more than 10,100. Over the last 10 years, the food giant has invested more than CHF 3.8 billion in the country.
