Nestlé opens new factories in Chile and China

As part of its investment programme in the health and pet food sectors, the Swiss giant Nestlé recently opened two new factories (Nestlé Health Science) in Taizhou, China for the production of foods for special medical purposes (FSMP) and skin care products for CHF 150 million.

At the same time the group has opened a pet food factory in the city of Teno, in the Curicó province of Chile. This new plant will involve an investment of CHF 117 million and will produce 65,000  tonnes of pet food per year for local consumption and for export markets in Latin America.

Nestlé is continuing to implement its Zero Waste for Disposal plan at all its production facilities and has announced the goal of making all its packaging 100% recyclable or reusable by 2025.

In Italy this has already resulted in more than 90% of the waste produced in factories in 2017 being recycled, reused or composted.
