Oleificio Fiorentini doubles its output
With an investment of 27 million euros, Oleificio Fiorentini is opening a new facility in Colle Val d’Elsa (Siena) equipped with five packaging lines to enable it to double its production capacity to 180,000-200,000 bottles of olive oil a day.
The new facility stands out for its innovative controlled temperature storage centre (8,000 tons) and for the use of renewables to meet approximately 35% of its energy requirements.
The olive oil producer’s output is sold through large retail outlets in 50 countries worldwide, especially USA, Germany and Italy. Its largest customer is the multinational Walmart, followed by the German retailers Aldi and Lidl.
Oleificio Fiorentini closed 2016 with a turnover of 148 million euros, 23% up on the previous year, and a production of 37 million bottles (compared to 35 million in 2015), 77% of which are exported.
Oleificio Fiorentini also owns the company Castel del Chianti based in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, together forming an olive oil group with a total turnover of almost 400 million euros and a workforce of around 100 people.
