Online shopping catches on in China

Alibaba and JD.com, the two giants of Chinese e-commerce, are expanding their services with a new Uber style home delivery courier.

The aim is to encourage the Chinese to use the online shopping platform and avoid supermarket queues.

This market segment in China appears to be ripe for expansion, particularly given the excellent response of Chinese consumers who spent 90.5 billion yuan ($13.1 billion) in 2016 on online shopping (86% up on the previous year).
