Oropan's ambitious goals for 2020
Investments of 13 million euros in hi-tech production and packaging plants have enabled Oropan to expand rapidly both in foreign markets and in Italy.
Since 2011, the producer of bakery products based in Altamura (Bari) has increased its number of export countries from two (UK and Australia) to the current figure of 19 across 4 continents, and aims to reach 30 by 2020.
The company has also expanded in the domestic Italian market, where its daily distribution has grown from 23,000 kg of products sold in 9 regions in 2011 to the current figure of 35,500 kg sold throughout the country.
Within the next three years it expects to reach 72,500 kg. Direct employment has also increased, with 44 new workers hired in addition to the 76 already present in 2011 (+58% in five years), amid plans to expand the workforce to 140 by 2020.
Thanks to the new investments, partly financed through a PIA (Integrated Concession Programme) granted by the Puglia regional government, the company has tripled its portfolio from 100 to 300 products and aims to reach 1,000 by 2020 when the development project is fully implemented.
