Pasta Zara devotes an entire factory to organic pasta
The Treviso, Italy-based group Pasta Zara has almost completed its €120 million three-year investment plan aimed at strengthening its position in the organic pasta sector. The plans include turning the entire factory located at Rovato in the province of Brescia over to the production of organic pasta.
With an annual production capacity of between 60,000 and 70,000 tons, the facility will become the largest organic pasta factory anywhere in Italy. In keeping with the new three-year plan, by 2020 Pasta Zara aims to increase sales to between 370,000 and 400,000 tons (compared to an estimated 2017 figure of around 280,000 tons, 5% up on last year) and to reach a turnover of €325 million compared to the anticipated €240 million of 2017.
The group also plans to expand its workforce to 500 employees (currently 460), most of whom will work at the facility in Muggia in the province of Trieste. Pasta Zara will also strengthen its sales network which currently spans more than 110 countries, making the group the largest Italian exporter with an export share of 88%.
