Pastificio Felicetti plans Industry 4.0 plant

Pastificio Felicetti (Predazzo, TN), a leading Italian producer of high-quality organic pasta, is designing a new 16,500 m2 state-of-the-art factory inspired by Industry 4.0 principles in Molina di Fiemme for an investment of around €30 million.

The company, which posted 2017 revenues of €37 million and has an export share of 75% in markets ranging from the USA to Canada, China and Japan, has opted for a high level of digital automation, including smart electronically-controlled machines, production lines with anthropomorphic robots and optical vision systems capable of recognising different product types.

The project stems from an agreement with the Province of Trento (which provided the site area) and sustainable development agency Trentino Sviluppo and will create new jobs (the total workforce is expected to reach 90 employees compared to the current 65).

Technology suppliers include Pavan for pasta production lines, CMB for storage silos, Stiavelli for packaging machines, Selematic for shrinkwrappers, Bema for palletisation and pallet handling systems, and System for warehousing solutions.

The company sells its products in supermarkets under the Alce Nero brand, in which it is a shareholder, and in specialist stores and restaurants under the Monograno Felicetti brand, which is also used for e-commerce sales.
