Pomì acquires De Rica canned tomato brand

De Rica, a historic Italian canned tomato brand belonging to Generale Conserve (brands Asdomar and Manzotin), has been sold to Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro (Pomì brand). The agreement was signed under the condition that De Rica remain in Italy.

With annual revenues of €230 million, Consorzio Casalasco is a consortium of 370 farms cultivating 7,000 hectares of land located in the Po Valley and spanning the provinces of Cremona, Parma, Piacenza and Mantua.

The consortium processes around 550,000 tons of tomatoes a year at its 3 production plants and exports its products to 60 countries worldwide. The new buyer intends to position De Rica in the high end of the market already occupied by the Pomì brand.
