Robopac acquires control of Sotemapack

The new packaging machinery industry partnership between Robopac and Sotemapack marks a further step forward for the group led by the Aureli family, expanding its range of solutions for international customers and consolidating its position as a leading player in Italy’s Packaging Valley.

Sotemapack has a high level of technical expertise based on its thirty years of business and carries out continuous R&D efforts with the aim of delivering technological solutions to a wide range of industrial sectors. Its research efforts focus on developing the most suitable material for protecting and packaging products and then constructing the best possible solution for customers’ specific needs.

Sotemapack has a turnover of 10 million euros and operates in a modern and highly efficient facility in Anzola dell’Emilia, a town in the province of Bologna. The majority shareholder is the De Martis family represented by Gabriele and his father Giancarlo De Martis, the longstanding CEO of G.D., Coesia Group.

The joint venture with Sotemapack brings together two families with shared vision and values,” commented Enrico and Valentina Aureli, CEOs of Robopac. “Without this shared vision it would be impossible to carry out a joint venture together. Although we have acquired the majority stake of the company, we expect to work side by side with our partner who will make a vital contribution in terms of technological and commercial innovation.”

Sotemapack’s expertise and engineering capability will integrate with Robopac Machinery systems so as to be able to offer customers complete end-of-line solutions. The cartoning machines and shrinkwrappers produced for the food sector by the Anzola dell’Emilia-based company coordinate perfectly with the range currently offered by Robopac Packers and Ocme, another leading company that has joined the Robopac group. Sotemapack’s longstanding experience in a number of specific sectors such as the polyurethane industry is a further major benefit.
