Sammontana increases turnover and adopts green production processes

Sammontana, a market-leading Italian producer of ice cream and frozen croissants, closed 2017 with 3% growth in turnover to €362 million and an EBITDA stable at €45.7 million. The company has 1050 employees at its four production sites (Verona, Empoli, Vinci and Pomezia) and serves some 60,000 customers throughout Italy, where it ranks second in terms of market share between the two foreign multinationals Unilever (Algida) and Nestlé (Motta).

It generates 40% of its turnover in the frozen croissant segment, where it is the market leader with the Tre Marie brand. The company is also engaged in a green conversion programme aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its corporate processes. This includes adopting the most advanced packaging solutions, increasingly efficient use of water and energy, effective raw materials selection and innovative waste and logistics management.
