Unilever reports growth in revenues and earnings in 2017
Driven by growth in emerging markets and a total of 11 acquisitions, Unilever has closed 2017 with a strong financial performance.
Turnover rose by 1.9% to €53.7 billion while net profit soared to €6.5 billion (+16.9%).
The Anglo-Dutch multinational achieved excellent results in the food sector where it continued to invest in innovations and acquisitions.
Growth in the savoury food segment was higher than the group average, driven in particular by the strong performance of Knorr and local brands such as Bango and Pot Noodle, while the Hellmann’s sauce brand was relaunched with more natural ingredients across 25 markets.
The group has forecast further growth of around 3-5% in 2018 and expects to see improvements in operating margin and cash flow in line with its targets for 2020.
