Valeo Foods acquires Raisio’s confectionery division
The confectionery division of Finland-based food and feed company Raisio, owner of Fox’s Glacier Mints, XXX Mints, Poppets and Pedro brands, has been acquired by Irish group Valeo Foods for a figure of €100 million.
The division currently employs more than 1,000 people and operates six production facilities in the UK and the Czech Republic, supplying key markets including North America, Asia and Australia.
In the first nine months of 2017, Raisio’s confectionery division posted net sales of €71.3 million and an EBIT of €6.4 million.
Valeo was established in 2010 and has a portfolio of around twenty iconic brands in segments including sauces, pasta, wine and liqueurs, as well as confectionery.
The acquisition is part of an international strategic growth programme launched in April 2014 with the purchase of the well-known honey brand Rowse, followed the same year by the brands Kelkin and Robert Roberts from the conglomerate DCC and in 2015 by the Italian cake maker Balconi.
