Walmart introduces robots in 50 stores

As of January 2018, small 60 cm high robots will begin operation in more than fifty Walmart stores across the USA. They will be used to scan shelves and identify missing and misplaced items, incorrect prices and mislabelling.

The robots will scan shelves continuously and much more rapidly than human operators and ensure an impeccable customer service. However the robots will not have arms so they will be unable to replenish inventory themselves.

Walmart has issued assurances that all employees will keep their jobs and that thanks to the support of their new “colleagues” human staff will have more time available to provide information and promote sales. Preliminary testing has been carried out in Arkansas, Pennsylvania and California.
