Italian food technologies set off for Algeria

CS 09/16

Ucima and the Italian Trade Agency ITA are backing the Italian companies' participation in the Algerian food processing and packaging technology exhibition.

The food technology exhibition Djazagro is due to be held in the Safex Exhibition Park in Algiers from 20 to 23 April 2015.

A total of 600 companies from 31 countries will be exhibiting in a space of 15,000 square metres, while more than 20,000 visitors are expected from all regions of Algeria and neighbouring countries.

The Italian food processing and packaging industry will be represented by 45 companies hosted in a 615 square metre country pavilion organised by the Italian Trade Agency ITA and Ucima.

The participating companies are mostly based in Italy’s main food technology manufacturing areas, including 9 in the province of Parma and 6 in the province of Vicenza. There will also be companies located in the provinces of Pavia, Padua, Venice, Ancona, Milan, Perugia, Bologna, Reggio Emilia, Varese, Pistoia, Monza, Rovigo, Verona, Turin, Genoa, Brescia, Forlì, Treviso, Pesaro and Imola.

Exports of Italian packaging machinery to Algeria rose sharply in 2014 to a total of 86 million euros7.5% up on the previous year. This increase is particularly significant considering that total imports to Algeria dropped in 2014 compared to 2013.
