Ucima’s newly-elected Chairman Enrico Aureli sets out his agenda at the Members’ Meeting

CS 11/16

“In recent years our Association has regained the necessary authority and become the key partner for everyone working in our sector both in Italy and abroad.” It was with these words that Ucima’s new Chairman Enrico Aureli began his address to the Members’ Meeting of Ucima, the Italian packaging machinery manufacturers’ association, which had elected him as chairman for the next four years.

“Over the next four years we will work together to ensure the continued growth of our association and our companies,” continued Aureli. “We will provide services and tools to support international development, to nurture the professional skills of employees and to increase the size of our companies.”

These results will be achieved through a number of key strategies, which Aureli presented to the more than 100 business leaders meeting at the association’s headquarters Villa Marchetti.

Items topping the new chairman’s agenda include continuous development of the association’s services by expanding the SBS training school, the Research Department and communication activities, and international development through participation in trade fairs, events and networking activities aimed at promoting the image of excellence of the sector.

Over the next four years, much attention will be devoted to trade fair policy and in particular to the international growth of the exhibition Ipack Ima held as a joint venture with Fiera Milano, an organisation in which Ucima has a controlling interest.

“Ipack Ima will give us the opportunity to showcase our new technologies at home, as hosts and not as guests of our German competitors,” Aureli said.

The work of forging international alliances with other trade fair organisers will also continue with the aim of establishing Ipack Ima as part of an international network capable of offering member companies an exhibition platform that will rationalise their presence abroad.

There will also be a strong focus on expanding membership to further increase the association’s already high level of representation (members currently account for 80% of the sector’s turnover). This will involve reaching out to small and medium-sized companies who can benefit from the excellent services offered by the association’s operational structure.
